CONCEPT
The Barsch Learning Style Inventory (BLSI) is an assessment instrument used to measure an individual's learning style. There are many different theories on how people learn and about the different types of learners. The BLSI organizes people into the categories of visual, auditory. tactile or kinesthetic learners and is widely used and promoted in school and college systems. In theory, by knowing the preferred learning style of the students in a classroom, a teacher can better construct their teaching methods to match and thus help facilitate better learning.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This instrument was developed by Jeffrey R. Barsch, EdD in 1996. The BLSI is intended to provide young adults with the knowledge of what their primary learning style is through a variety of short answer questions. The BLSI was developed to adequately evaluate the learning styles of young adults as well as younger learners.

PERSONAL REFLECTION
After taking the Barsch Learning Style Inventory, I confirmed the fact that I am above all a visual learner (32). As a matter of fact, I am well-aware of the fact that I better understand concepts when I see them in action. Furthermore, as a teacher I always find myself using visuals, graphic organizers, and videos to enhance my students' learning. My second highest score was auditory. This comes as no surprise to me either as I very often tend to remember and learn things that I have heard. For instance, I find written directions more difficult to follow than spoken directions
